Following our ride in 2010 we decided to create a similar challenge for this event and ride the coastline of England, Scotland and wales over a two week period, raising funds for The Stroke Association and SANDS charities. The event raised over £8000 between the two charities, many thanks to all those who supported us!
The riders of the bikes were Andy (silver bike) and Lee (green bike), they were joined by Olly Wiltshire on the red bike and supported by Joe and Tony with a couple of days help from Natalie
The ride itself started and ended at the Masonic Hall in Lymington, were we received a really good reception on our return
The bikes we used were not quite the same as we did in 2010, this time they were three Kawasaki KH125’s from the mid eighties, all of them had been stripped down and rebuilt as Cafe Racers with drop bars, single seats and made as light as possible, to add to the challenge we camped the whole way round as well. We had to keep away from motorways as Andy and Olly were both on ‘L’ plates.
We had superb support from Joe and Tony who drove round in Joe’s van with spares and the camping equipment, supplying us with fuel, food and drink as well as much needed support, the van was well sign written with our event and major sponsors
We received a lot of support on the way round and met some memorable characters, most of the camp sites helped us by not charging for the pitches and we attracted a lot of attention on the way as well.
Dire Straits members, Mark Knopfler and John Illsley endorsed our ride and provided support by doing a photoshoot with us at the East End Arms pub and signing some shirts for us.
The photos below are a selection taken during the trip round the UK
We also took some videos during the ride, the one below is us coming home on the last day, please excuse the expletive!
